Call in a Carpet Bomb to make this even faster. Make the last Flood Den you attack the one nearby the Flood Boss, then move in 5-10 Hornets and your Spartans for the final fill. By this point, you should be pumping out Hornets like crazy, so take groups of 5 to each Flood Den and leave two above each to kill them quickly when they regenerate - they will regenerate and come alive but will only have a tiny amount of life, so keeping all 5 down is pretty easy with enough Hornet support. Whenever you head over to one of these Flood Dens, be sure to take out the Launchers nearby which will knock out your Hornets with just a few hits. The idea is to take them out with your cluster of Hornets and - if they are all down at once- you'll get the HAVE ALL 5 FLOOD COLONIES DORMANT AT ONCE objective and the Sweet Naptime Achievement, not to mention a much weaker boss. There are 5 of these throughout the level and after you defeat one their locations will be marked off. Once you have a mighty fleet of Hornets, go just north of the first base to find a Flood Den. Augment this and your first base with Flame Mortars to keep the Flood at bay, and use this additional space to help bolster supplies and build a Field Armory to research Extra Troops (this will give you a few more Hornets to play around with). The final trek isn't bad at all.Take your first 5 Hornets up to star marked on your map to rescue the Spartans, and have them and the Hornets rendezvous at the grey spot on the map to grab another base site. Send your heavy machinery back to base to clear the way and the Spartans will defend Charlie team behind them. There will be many ground and air Flood units attacking your base, so make sure your Turrets are equipped. Now, with the help of Charlie Team's Spartans, you'll need to escort the troops back to base. Heal your troops when they need it at the third Roadblock and clear it out like the others. This road has a few Launchers you can speed past on the way, and two right at the Pylon you'll need to defeat. They should take the northwest passage over to it, and avoid the final roadblock. Meanwhile, have a Gremlin, two or three Scorpions and whatever else you have to spare head up to the final Pylon (4/4), just west of Charlie Team's location. When this is cleared and Bravo Team is evacuated, head to the West end of the next roadblock and start chipping away. Otherwise, keep pummeling them with Cluster shots and long-distance fire. Your Freeze ability is fairly useless, but you can use it to freeze some Launch forms if you'd like. You'll need to have a hefty supply of Scorpions to clear it out. This roadblock is to the east of Bravo Team's location. If you want, you can send some Marines over to capture this Reactor now. Use your upgraded Scorpion Cluster Shells with Y to make short work of them. These must be destroyed immediately or else you'll be redoing this mini-mission. They'll speed over there, only threatened significantly by Launchers nearby the Pylon. You can see it through the Fog of War, so have them travel to a place right nearby the structure you can see. Take a Wolverine, a Gremlin and 3 Scorpions (to lead the way) over to the Pylon (2/4) in the east corner of the map. Now, you may want to go ahead and take the next Pylon, if only for the additional Reactor (although you can just burn some money on upgrading a Reactor you've built already). Simply drive it over to the first Pylon (1/4) by the Reactor your garrisoned just to the northeast of the base. You can spawn a Gremlin from your central Fortress bunker but you'll get the first one for free. There are four of these ancient structures around the map, roughly one in each corner.ĭepositing a Gremlin at a Pylon will add 5 minutes to your remaining time, not to mention go towards the Procrastinator Achievement and PLACE GREMLINS AT PYLONS optional objective. Leave one of the northern turrets a Flame Mortar for ground Flood forms of which there will be plenty.īefore attacking the Flood spot to the northwest to free the first UNSC team, let's talk Pylons. Position your Hornets on the defensive over your base and upgrade your turrets to Missiles to defend against air assaults.
